If you want to live for the honor of Christ, then you must redeem the time (use it for Him).

1. Who is to redeem the time?

  • Paul is writing to Christian people (insiders)
  • Also, mentioned are non-Christian people (outsiders).
  • There is an open door.

2. Why are we to redeem the time?

  • Because of evangelism.
  • Because of God.
  • Because we are going to die.

3. How are we to redeem the time?

  • Setting your relationship with God ahead of every relationship.
  • Seeking God’s kingdom before all things.
  • Giving like Christ, who gave all he had to give.

Scripture reading from Colossians 4:5

Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.

Happiness With God

Dear friend,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

“If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands.” Clap, clap!

Did you sing that song when you were a child? I did. And I clapped too. I also stamped my feet and said amen. Happiness seems to come easy for children who were loved like I was. Looking around now, however, I observe that happiness for grown-ups is harder to come by. Are you happy? I do not mean, “How are you?” You would probably answer “fine” to that question, but are you happy?

If you are a Christian, I hope you will say yes. This is not to say life is a bed of roses and everything around you is perfect. Most of us face circumstances that are difficult and some of us are in the midst of severe trial. The Christian, however, has something that transcends circumstances in this world. The Christian has a relationship with God. Of course we know that means heaven, eternal life, no pain after death, and no tears. It means something more though. It means happiness with Him. Have you every thought about God as the supreme, lasting, perfect, ultimate source of happiness in your life? Let me encourage you to find ultimate satisfaction in the Lord.

The psalmist says:

“I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy!” (Ps. 43:4a)

Dear friend, make God your joy and happiness today!

Your servant,

Stephen

Above All

Last Sunday our Pastor talked about prayer, and it hits right into me as I try to reflect that to my daily life. How often do I have a real intimate conversation with Him? What is the first thing I do to start the day?

He has granted me with all things that I need, and very often I have set my priorities wrongly, not putting Him first. Who am I to justify my own priorities!

Thank you Lord Jesus for the reminder, thank you for the salvation you have granted, to me and those who believe in You.

Heart of Worship

What do we expect of a worship experience when we go to church every Sunday? A majestic song played by an orchestra? Excellent Choir? Or a selection of songs that can express our emotion?

What happen if there is no praise team on one Sunday, no piano, no songs that we like, will it become a less meaningful worship? To whom is it meaningful? To us who sing it? Or to God? Is it a matter of our voice, our emotion, our heart?

Listen to this music, and ask yourself what should be the answers.

Ask ourself again when we come through the church door on a Sunday, what are we bringing as our offering to God?

Prayer

Colossians 4:2-4

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— 4 that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.

If we want to live for the glory of Christ, then we must pray.

1. We must pray for ourselves (Col 4:2).

  • We must pray often.
  • We must pray proactively.
  • We must pray with thanksgiving.

2. We must pray for others (Col 4:3).

  • We must pray for all people.
  • We must pray for people in ministry.
  • We must pray for persecuted Christians.

3. We must pray for open doors (Col 4:3-4).

  • We must ask God to work through His Word.
  • We must ask God to send out the gospel.
  • We must ask God to bless human ministry.
