Choose This Day Whom You Will Serve

Dear friend,
Last week I witnessed my first major election since moving to Indonesia. While I am thankful to be a resident of this great country, I am not a citizen so I did not vote. Our family did, however, pray that God would bless the nation with good leaders. It is a privilege to be able to choose who your leaders are.
Did you know there was a place in the Bible that asks us to choose who we will follow? Of course the scripture is not talking about politics, but about having a relationship with God. God’s servant Joshua makes this famous statement,
“Choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15b).
Who will you choose to serve this week? The false gods that used to enslave you? The things people worship in the world all around you? I pray that we will all be like Joshua who chose to serve the Living Lord!
Your servant,
Stephen
