What We Believe

Our church is committed to the great teachings of biblical Christianity. These are summed up in the following historically proclaimed principles:

Scripture Alone - The Bible is the complete and perfect word of God. It is the supreme rule for understanding faith and life.

Christ Alone - Salvation is a gift from God. It is not earned or deserved, but is given by God through His mercy and grace.

Faith Alone - We are saved through faith in the work of Jesus Christ, not by our own work or our effort.

The Glory of God Alone - All of creation and salvation itself are designed for the pleasure and praise of God in heaven.

Our church’s official statement of faith is as indicated in the JIBC constitution

What We Do

The purpose of Jakarta International Baptist Church is to glorify God, upwardly through worship, inwardly through discipleship, and outwardly through evangelism.

How We Organize

Congregation - We believe in the priesthood of all believers. Therefore, the members of JIBC who form our congregation are ultimately responsible for matters of church life. It is the congregation who votes for elders and deacons, approves the church budget and major facility expenses, admits and dismisses members, calls pastors, and stands accountable for the public preaching and teaching of God’s word.

Deacons - In accordance with the teachings of Scripture, Deacons are elected to attend the physical care and meet the temporal needs of the Body. They also assist the Elders in the various ministries and programs of the Church.

Elders - The Elders are responsible for the spiritual leadership of the Church, serving under Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd. They are equip and prepare the people of the Church, so that all are actively involved in personal ministry. They are responsible for the worship, teaching, evangelistic, and prayer services of the Church and shall seek to provide spiritual help and counsel to all in need as the Lord leads and enables.

Volunteers - At JIBC some serve in paid positions (Pastor and other staff members), but many others serve as volunteer Ministry Directors, Sunday School Teachers, musicians, ushers, or in a wide range of different capabilities. All are encouraged to find a ministry for the good of the Church and the glory of God.

Ministry Council - The ministry council is a meeting of the Deacons, Elders, and Ministry Directors for the coordination of church ministries.

Church Constitution - The church conducts its ministry in accordance with the JIBC Constitution. All members agree to be governed by this document.
