Overnight Youth Leadership Retreat, June 11-12 at Shekinah Village, Ds. Limo, Depok. For those who will participate, please return the registration slip to Mrs. Edna or Andrew St. John not later than Wednesday, June 9th. 2010.
The Elders and Deacons along with their families are invited to participate in a covered dish fellowship dinner at the Pastor’s house on June 16 at 5:30 PM. Each family may bring a dish to share. This is a fellowship meeting and there will be no business discussion! If you have any questions, please speak with Pastor Stephen or Jennifer.

The elders and deacons have formed a Nominating Committee to further develop the process of selecting Ministry Directors at JIBC. Deacon Ian, Elder Lars, and Pastor Stephen are on this committee. Please see any of them if you have questions.
Join us today at Pastor Stephen and Jennifer’s Home for a brief baptism service. The baptisms will be at 2:30 PM and will be followed by some fellowship. Maps are available on the welcome table.
Friday Youth Fellowship. There will be no YFY for this week. Most youth are preparing for year end school exam and school closing. Next Fyf will be on May 28th. details will be announced later.
Lord’s Supper Next week, May 30 we will have the Lord’s Supper.

Baby Dedication There will be a Baby dedication service today for Joselyn Oh, the daughter of Jeany and Kenneth Oh.
Our Children’s Sunday School Classes will resume as normal next Sunday morning at 9:15 AM.
There will be a baptism service at the Pastor’s house on May 23 at 2:30 in the afternoon. If you are interested in being baptized at that time, then please contact Pastor Stephen.

WORSHIP AND YOUTH PASTOR
JAKARTA INTERNATIONAL BAPTIST CHURCH
Jakarta International Baptist Church (JIBC) is a growing English-speaking church in Jakarta, Indonesia with a purpose to glorify God: upwardly though worship, inwardly though discipleship, and outwardly through evangelism.
JIBC has a need to further develop its Worship and Youth ministries towards this purpose. An effort has begun to search a candidate for the position of Worship and Youth Pastor.
ROLE
Develop and implement a vision for worship and youth ministries that supports the fundamental purpose of JIBC in Jakarta. The candidate would meet existing needs, bring existing believers closer to Him, grow the church and bring new believers to Christ.
Worship
Lead and utilize existing musical talent in JIBC in way that is pleasing to the Lord (Upward), energizes the Church worship team (Inward), and is attractive to potential believers in the community (Outward).
Design effective programs and activities where members of the church use their abilities, talents, and spiritual gifts to enrich the content of the service.
Devise ways to celebrate Christian special periods through music and other worship vehicles
Youth (Grades 6 through 12)
Help the youth to be good disciples of Christ and to identify their God-given gifts. Encourage them to participate in building the Youth Ministry to serve His purpose.
Build on the existing youth in a way that enhances their Spiritual walk and brings fun and joy.
Teach the youth the different ways they can utilize their God-given gifts to evangelize within the community or when they are at school or simply at play with non-Christian friends.
Support church youth through difficult times and through changes in their life and, if needed, provide a counseling service to the parents.
Other
Assist the Pastor in his role as shepherd of his flock. Assist him in administrative duties and in coordination roles to be defined.

Announcements for May 9, 2010
Join us for the combine service of the English-speaking churches in Jakarta on Ascension Day, Thursday, May 13 at 10 am. Pastor Seth S. Kim will be Preaching .The service will be held at the IES facility at UOB Plaza, 9th Floor, Jalan Thamrin, Kav 8-10. Please find the flyer on the back table.
JIBC will be responsible for ushering and greeting at the joint service on Ascension Day this year. If you would like to represent JIBC as an usher or greeter for the May 13 service, then please inform Ibu Dina or Pastor Stephen so they can prepare your name-tag. Ushers and greeters will need to arrive at 9:30 AM on that day in order to prepare for the 10 AM service.
The JIBC Elders have selected a new curriculum for all our children’s and youth classes. In order to present this to the teachers and assistants, there will be a special meeting next Sunday morning at 9:15 AM. All teachers, assistants, and youth workers are invited to attend. To accommodate this important meeting, there will be no children’s Sunday School next Sunday. Sunday School classes will resume as normal on Sunday May 23.

The elders and deacons have formed a committee to consider searching for a Worship and Youth Pastor. Please be in prayer for committee members Ian Beech, Rod McKay, Pastor Stephen, and Uran The. If you have any questions or feedback for this committee, please speak with one of these men.
JIBC encourages Christian parents who are seeking to bring their children up in the Lord. We pray for and support parents who send their kids to public or private schools and are providing Christian education in the home, we support those who are involved in Christian home schooling, and we support those who have their children in Christian schools. Today we welcome Mr. David Michel, the new principal at SPH Kemang Village. Any parents who are interested in learning more about this new Christian School option may meet with Mr. Michel after the service. We would also like to welcome him and his family to Jakarta.
The JIBC elders are happy to allow Iwan Surna to conduct a survey of the congregation for his research project at Jakarta Baptist Theological Seminary. Your participation in this survey is voluntary, the survey is anonymous, and the individual results will remain confidential. Iwan and his volunteer assistants will begin conducting this survey today.
