The Preteens are headed to Sindang Reret in Lembang-Bandung for a fun outing on Saturday, October 2, 2010! We already have almost 20 preteens signed up along with their families for a total of 55 persons! Please see Deacon John Suwardi, Mr. Janto Widjaja or Dominic Rusiana if you wish to join or are interested to know more about this event.
If you have signed up but have not paid the joining fee (it’s Rp. 50,000 per person), please do so as soon as possible. Please hand your payment to Deacon John. For those who need transportation and financial assistance, please don’t hesitate to let Deacon John or Pastor Stephen know. We want everyone to be able to participate!
If your preteen needs a chaperone and ride to the outing, please sign up with Mrs. Edna Romulo.
She will be chaperoning a car from Permata Hijau. There is currently still space for 4-5 preteens
and/or adults in that car. Please let Deacon John know if your family intends to stay over in Sindang Reret.
Please try your best to arrive there by 10AM. Sindang Reret is a 3-hour drive from
Jakarta and it’s best to leave by 7AM to avoid traffic. Everyone is encouraged to bring a change of clothes. See you all there!

Visiting the Senen Box Dwellers

“For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’” - Deuteronomy 15:11
On October 24, the Youth Group made a service visit to the Senen area to distribute food packages to local “box dwellers” — a homeless community living in makeshift housing of cardboard and canvas. A church in the area, held in a private home, in in contact with Youth For Christ to assist these people in their physcial and spirital needs.
When the youth arrived on Saturday morning, we discovered that, hours before, the government had preformed a routine “clean up” of the area, burning the houses of the box dwellers which are illegally located on public property between two railroad tracks.
Please pray for these people, that YFC and the local church will be able to not only assist with their desperate physcial poverty, but also bring the gospel to them.

On September 4, the JIBC Youth Group celebrated the conclusion of another six weeks of Bible study with a party at the St. John home. Thank you to the St. John’s for hosting, and to all the kids who came and enjoyed good food and fellowship!
